Privacy

Last updated 5 November 2026

This site is run by one person, not a company. That shapes the whole policy: there is no data warehouse here, no advertising network, and no reason to know anything about you beyond the address you typed in.

What is collected

• Your email address — only if you subscribe. It is stored by our email provider, not on this site.
• Aggregate page views — recorded by Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, sets no identifier, and cannot follow you to another site.
• Nothing else. No accounts, no profiles, no payment details (payments are not connected), no advertising pixels.

Who processes it

• Buttondown — runs the mailing list and sends the letter. Their servers are in the United States.
• Cloudflare — serves this site, answers DNS, forwards mail sent to [email protected], and records the page-view counts.

Both act as processors. Transfers outside the EEA rely on standard contractual clauses.

Why it is processed

To send you the letter you asked for, and to know roughly how many people read the site. Under the GDPR that is consent (Article 6(1)(a)); you give it by submitting the form and you can withdraw it at any time.

How long it is kept

Until you unsubscribe. After that the address is kept only on a suppression list, so a mistaken re-import cannot subscribe you again.

Cookies

This site sets none. The language notice stores one value in your browser's localStorage so it stays dismissed — that value never leaves your device and is not a cookie.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to processing. Write to [email protected] and it will be handled by hand. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority in your country.

Children

This site is written for working adults and is not directed at anyone under 16.

Changes

If the practice changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list of privacy updates — this page is the record.
